Derek Chauvin
personDerek Chauvin was stabbed by another inmate on Friday at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, Arizona. Chauvin, 47, is serving a 22-year sentence for second-degree murder. He was convicted of holding a knee on George Floyd's neck for nine-and-a-half minutes. The US Supreme Court threw out Chauvin's appeal last week.

personOscar Pistorius, 37, was granted his freedom by a South African parole board. The disgraced former Olympian murdered Reeva Steenkamp in 2013. He was sentenced to 13 years and five months imprisonment in 2017. His first hearing in March saw him denied freedom due to an error.

personNew York City Mayor Eric Adams was hit with the legal action on Wednesday. He was accused of sexually assaulting a woman he worked with 30 years ago. The lawsuit is seeking a trial and at least $5 million in relief.

organizationHamas says it and Israel have agreed to a four-day pause in hostilities in Gaza. The group said it agreed to release around 50 women and children hostages from Gaza. Israel said it would extend the lull by an additional day for every 10 hostages released.
