Tyre Nichols
personEmmit Martin, Justin Smith, Tadarrius Bean, Desmond Mills and Demetrius Haley were arrested Jan. 26. All are charged with second-degree murder, as well as official misconduct, aggravated kidnapping, official oppression and acting in concert to commit aggravated assault. Video footage of the arrest has been shown to Nichols' family, but has not been made public.

Southwest Airlines
organizationSouthwest Airlines reported a loss for the fourth quarter, as the company took an $800 million pretax hit. Southwest had to cancel around 16,700 flights between December 21 through December 31, nearly all the flights scheduled for that time period.

personSayfullo Saipov, 34, was convicted Thursday of federal crimes. He killed eight people with a speeding truck in a 2017 rampage on a bike path. Prosecutors said the Halloween rampage was inspired by his reverence for the Islamic State militant group.
