The strike was carried out early Sunday at an Afghanistan safe house the elderly terrorist had be holed up in. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Taliban violated the Doha Agreement. The Taliban had pledged in the 2020 Doha agreement not to harbor extremists.

Fernando Alonso has signed a three-year deal with Aston Martin. Double world champion will replace Sebastian Vettel at the British team. Vettel announced he will retire from F1 at the end of the current campaign.

England's Luke Donald named European Ryder Cup captain for 2023. Donald replaces Sweden's Henrik Stenson, who was stripped of his captaincy after joining the new LIV Golf Invitational Series. Stenson was deposed as captain after signing with LIV earlier this month.

Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson was accused by more than 20 women massage therapists of inappropriate behavior, including sexual assault. Watson settled 20 of the cases against him in June. The punishment is far less than the full season that the league had hoped for as a minimum. The NFL has three days to appeal the decision.

Guy Reffitt, 49, was found guilty in March on five felony counts. He was sentenced to 87 months in prison, three years of probation, $2,000 in restitution, and mandatory mental health treatment. Prosecutors sought a 15-year prison sentence using terrorism as a sentencing enhancement. His defense team is seeking a maximum of two years in prison.
