Travis McMichael, his father, Gregory McMichael and neighbor William "Roddie" Bryan were convicted on a raft of charges, including felony murder. Defense attorneys have said they plan to appeal the convictions.

personPoitier was the first black actor to take home the statuette in the top actors category for Lilies of the Field in 1963. He was automatically granted US citizenship after being unexpectedly born in Miami while his parents were visiting in February 1927. Since his big-screen debut as an extra in 1947, Poitier appeared in over 40 films.

Judge denied any chance of parole for the father and son who armed themselves and initiated the pursuit. Ahmaud Arbery, 25, was out jogging in an adjacent, predominantly white neighbourhood when the trio chased and cornered him in pick-up trucks.
