He was determined to have repeatedly lied to police and fabricated the incident for publicity. The 39-year-old actor faces up to three years in prison.

Thousands defied a ban and took part in a vigil last June commemorating the 1989 crackdown at Beijing's Tiananmen Square. Authorities had charged more than two dozen pro-democracy politicians and activists over the vigil.
